The Appeals Service
The Appeals Service arranges and hears appeals on decisions on Social Security, Child Support, Housing Benefit and various Tax Credits. VSI-Thinking have developed a bespoke, robust, distributed training management system which securely handles all the staff development needs of the Appeals Service panel members. By listening to the needs and requirement of the Appeals Service training department, VSI-Thinking have developed a system that achieves a high level of usability and functionality. An initial understanding and development workshop helped to establish a specification for the system and a prototype was rapidly produced in just two weeks.
Data from the current systems was migrated to an SQL database, which formed the basis of the new web application. The working process was implemented through a number of web screens, providing a simple and intuitive interface to the database. The system handles and administers the event and venue organisation for the Appeals Service, producing letters for invitation and confirmation of attendance. An audit trail is produced to allow reporting on courses attended and identify future training requirements.
