A host of new technologies are powering the launch of Thomas Cook's Summer 13 programme to enhance the way customers browse, research and book their holidays. Customer's receiving a Thomas Cook holiday brochure through the post will also receive a DVD showcasing a range of different holiday destinations and services available. The brochures also contain QR Codes to deliver more information about the most popular hotels to a reader's smartphone. Scanning these codes on a phone with a QR Code Reader will allow users to watch a video detailing what that hotel has to offer. Thomas Cook's online virtual brochure store, www.brochure-store.co.uk, has also been revamped to provide access to the new film material and allows customers to view the range of brochures from the Thomas Cook family; these brochures are also available to download and view through Apps on Apple and Android devices. The new technologies have helped Thomas Cook reduce their brochure print run by almost a quarter (21.5%) compared to last year. Customers take their holiday research very seriously – especially those who book early – and we know they have a strong need for electronic access to information at home and on the move. That's why we have come up with several initiatives to make holiday research quicker, more effective and utilising the latest technology. Our recent research also shows that customers often experience a condition known as “holiday head” where they are confused by all the reports, brochures and options. Providing more information on video will provide our customers with clearer and more tailored information whilst eliminating the need for more paper.
