Internet advertising has seen a huge growth in use and now accounts for a quarter of all advertising spending in the UK, a growth of 12.8% in 2010 has pushed the total spend past the £4billion mark. Online advertising has also tripled its rapid growth from 2009 as more companies begin using the internet to advertise their products and services....

From March 1st the Advertising Standards Authority can police claims made by companies online and through social network accounts. Until now the ASA could only monitor adverts online that have been paid for but the new regulations will allow them to look into statements that could be interpreted as marketing, even if they’re not in an advert....
