Two companies have been fined £100,000 for running premium-rate phone competitions on "typosquatted" websites. Typosquatters use misspelled versions of popular brands to prey on consumers that make a mistake while typing in a web address. The two companies were also ordered to refund all victims of the scam on top of their £100,000 fine....

From March 1st the Advertising Standards Authority can police claims made by companies online and through social network accounts. Until now the ASA could only monitor adverts online that have been paid for but the new regulations will allow them to look into statements that could be interpreted as marketing, even if they’re not in an advert....

US rapper Kanye West has made a Coventry man an online star by following him on Twitter. Mr West made Stephen Holmes the first (and only) person he is following on Twitter, after joining last week. Kanye has amassed more than 380,000 followers in that time....
